Rotary lobe rotor pump is a gear pump for transporting high viscosity liquid, which should output the most flow under lower power consumption, less leakage and higher pressure.

When determining the medium to be transported, we should strictly follow the rules in the product specification, use the fluid medium recommended by the manufacturer as far as possible, and pay attention to consider the operating temperature scale of the system. When it is expected to be used in a wide temperature range, the viscosity index of the transport medium should be higher. The transport medium is not only an intermediary for energy transfer, but also a smooth, sealed and heat transfer medium. Too high liquid viscosity will add internal friction resistance, reduce output power, waste energy, and cause excessive system temperature.


Protection devices such as safety valves should be installed on the outlet pipeline of the rotary lobe rotor pump. Once the outlet channel of the rotary lobe rotor pump is blocked, the safety valve can be opened to relieve pressure. With regard to the demand for rotary lobe rotor pumps with positive rotation, safety valves need to be installed on the inlet and outlet pipes.

Selection of job pressure:

The extra pressure of the high viscosity pump refers to the maximum allowable pressure when the rotary lobe rotor pump is connected, and its operating pressure is determined by the external load, and the life of the device and commissioning is directly related to its working pressure. With regard to the rotary lobe rotor pump that does not work frequently, the operating pressure should be the additional pressure of the pump. Taking into account the different product quality, it is best to reduce the additional pressure by 20% to 30%. For gear pumps that often operate under high pressure, the operating pressure should be 1 or 2 pressure levels lower than the extra pressure of the pump. Petrochemical equipment often operates continuously 24 hours a day, when the working pressure of the rotary lobe rotor pump should be much lower than the extra pressure, and the operating speed should also be lower than the extra speed. If the working pressure of the high viscosity gear pump is adjusted too high, it will make the rotary lobe rotor pump run under overload.
